First Lovely Day

Today was the first gorgeous day this spring. We spent the morning hanging out and cleaning, then headed outside.

My little man, looking so grown up.

“Mama, do you have to take a picture of me?”

Nomi loves playing in the dirt.

Not walking yet, but getting around.

“Hmmm… what do I do with all these cups?”

It’s spring in PA, which means that the stink bugs have come out of cryo-freeze to cover my carpet with their ugly, crunchy little carcasses. They are literally everywhere, so much so that Keith and I, hippies that we are, are thinking seriously about getting an exterminator. But first? Insulation so that they can’t just crawl through the walls. 😛

The hyacinths and daffodils are out in the kitchen garden. Needs to be weeded desperately. Memo to self.

The sandbox that Grammy and Grampy got the kids is a brand-new hit now that it’s been uncovered and it’s nice enough to play outside again. It’s really fun watching Toby and Nomi play together, as well.

Here is one of the most stunning pictures of Nomi I’ve ever seen. Just beautiful. Look at those blue eyes!

Busy, busy!

It’s been a while since we updated last. The kids are napping

From Drop Box

so I’ll take a bit of time to update.

This week, we’ve found out what happens when you give a 2 year old a Hershey bar

We also did some canning, so Toby played with the pots and pans on the floor

… and climbed into the lazy susan.

Remember that pumpkin? It’s orange now!

We also took a few walks and Toby was entranced by this bird on the telephone wires.

Naomi enjoyed her first run-in with a toy on Monday.

Toby studied up for our Dungeons & Dragons campaign.

He goofed off by putting his sister’s socks on his hands, too. Strange little guy!

Toby also spent the whole day Wednesday with NO DIAPER! He’s getting very good at pottying.

Busy week and busy kids!

Our Weekend

Our weekend in pictures:

Friday morning, we sent Grammy, Grandmama, Abuelo, and Julie off, and went back to the house.

From Drop Box

Toby had fun watching a movie with the doll they had gotten for Naomi.

Then we went for a walk.

We saw LOTS of butterflies.

We also met the man who has the little produce stand and the big garden at the corner of Sand Hill and Shady Ln.

From Drop Box

Toby enjoyed it so much, he fell asleep.

We ate most of our meals outside because the weather was so lovely.

On Saturday, we did some weeding in the morning and then took a trip down the road to Susquehannock State Park.

The views were gorgeous, and the trail was pretty easy. Toby enjoyed running around all the wooded areas and looking out over the river.

He also rode in the backpack for the first time in a LONG time.

There was lots of beautiful foliage around. It’s a gorgeous park, and we’ll definitely go back sometime.

Sunday, we went to my midwife’s potluck lunch for all of her homebirthing mamas, and then went to our normal summer Sunday night haunt, Long’s Park.

It rained, but the band was really good.

I got to snuggle with Toby,

and Keith played on his phone and snuggled with Naomi.

We were soaking wet by the end of the night, but it was loads of fun.

Ooh, and one more thing – I was propping Naomi up on Saturday, and realized that she can sit without me holding her!

From Drop Box

She can’t sit up by herself yet, but if you put her there, she’ll stay! My little girl is growing up so quickly!

Hope your weekends were as lovely as ours were.

Our Garden

The garden has finally started to bear fruit! We picked about 2 dozen cucumbers yesterday, as well as a few squash. The patty-pans are doing nicely (and man, are they yummy on the grill!).

From Drop Box

We even saw this little guy, growing through the fence. Yes, the cucumber is supposed to be white – we’ve only been growing heirlooms, and we’re having such a blast with such pretty vegetables. I’ll post a picture of our purple carrots later.

Our biggest surprise was volunteer watermelons in the compost! We went out there yesterday and realized that they weren’t watermelons, they’re……. can you guess?

From Drop Box

That’s right! Pumpkins! I can’t wait for fall! Of course, I couldn’t wait for fall BEFORE because this weather has been so gross.

And now, because I know that’s why you’re here….. pics of the kids.

This is Toby last weekend, at the Team Sarcoma PA walk, sporting the team shirt and bracelet.

Here’s Naomi, sleeping while Mommy hangs out on the porch.
